‘The White Lotus’ Season 4 Adds Steve Coogan!!

The White Lotus continues to rapidly fill its Season 4 guest list, adding two more names to the cast. Two-time Oscar nominee and comedy legend Steve Coogan, known for co-writing and starring in the biographical dramedy Philomena, has been tapped for a role in Mike White‘s Emmy-winning HBO smash hit series alongside a relative newcomer in Black Snow‘s Caleb Jonte Edwards. As always, character details for both are being kept under wraps, but we do know that they’ll be joining another sizzling mix of stars, including Helena Bonham Carter, Alexander Ludwig, and AJ Michalka, as well as Chris Messina, who entered talks to star yesterday.

Plot details for what Season 4 will entail are being kept under wraps, but The White Lotus‘ previous seasons give fans a good idea of what to expect from the dark comedy. Across three locations so far, the show has centered on the intersection between the wealthy guests and employees at the titular resort over the course of a week, as the seemingly-perfect travelers unravel into their worst behaviors. Drama ensues, dark secrets come out, and someone always ends up dead. After visiting Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, this latest run of episodes will unfold in France, with the Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez acting as the famed resort.

Coogan will supply the comedy side of the dark comedy anthology, boasting a decades-long track record of bringing the laughs. Aside from Philomena, his defining comedic turn came with the inception of Alan Partridge, his long-running parody British broadcaster character seen in the original I’m Alan Partridge, the 2013 film Alan Partridge, and, more recently, the newest installment in his saga, How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge). He’s also been a fixture of the Despicable Me franchise, playing the Anti-Villain League boss Silas Ramsbottom since the second film. The last two years have been particularly busy for Coogan, also featuring The Sandman Season 2 and the sixth and final season of What We Do in the Shadows on television, as well as The Penguin Lessons, Saipan, and Joker: Folie à Deux. The White Lotus will be a big break for Edwards, meanwhile, whose guest turn in the Stan original Black Snow is currently his most prominent role.

‘The White Lotus’ Has Thrived Mixing Up-and-Comers and Veterans

Since its inception, The White Lotus has been a vehicle to stardom for the rising stars and veteran actors alike who have appeared on it. Season 1, for instance, brought a ton of attention to Murray Bartlet and Jennifer Coolidge, the latter of whom would also return for Season 2. The most recent eye-watering round of guests in Season 3 featured Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Jason Isaacs, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Parker Posey, Lisa, and more, who helped power the show to a staggering 23 Emmy nominations last year. With White back at the helm as writer and director, and another varied group of stars forming around him, Season 4 is looking to keep the resort running smoothly after building a strong 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes so far.

The White Lotus Season 4 has not set a release date yet.
