Will Hawkeye Season 2 ever happen? One producer on the MCU project explains why the Disney+ show has not returned for more episodes.
What did Andrew Guest say about Hawkeye Season 2?
It’s been over four years since Hawkeye Season 1 premiered, and there is still no official announcement about Season 2. What is the hold-up?
Andrew Guest, the showrunner of the upcoming Wonder Man, worked as a consulting producer on Hawkeye Season 1. In an interview with The Direct, Guest acknowledged that Hawkeye Season 2 plans have been discussed. However, “timing” has been the biggest reason why those ideas have never come to fruition.
“There was talk at a certain point about . . . we did explore creatively what Season 2 of Hawkeye might be if we were able to do it,” Guest said. “Unfortunately, the timing didn’t work out in terms of Marvel and all the various pieces that need to come together, but I loved working on Hawkeye. I think [Jeremy] Renner and Hailee Steinfeld are so terrific together, and I would love to see more of those two.”
Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner, who plays Clint Barton, made headlines last year when he revealed that Marvel offered a lower salary for a potential Season 2. Renner says the smaller offer came in some time after the snowplow accident in January 2023.
“They asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money,” Renner said. “I’m like, ‘Well, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount.’”
In recent months, Renner has been much more optimistic about returning for Season 2.
“We got to where we’re trying to do the second season,” Renner told The Playlist. “And I think I’ll get strong enough to be able to do it. And we’ll work it out. It’s gonna be great.”
Hawkeye Season 2 is reportedly in development.
