‘The Interrogator’: Fox Sets Up New Spy Series with Stephen Fry!!

The spy genre has produced many notable films in the entertainment industry. From the Mission: Impossible franchise led by the legendary Tom Cruise, who brought to life the highly skilled IMF field operative, Ethan Hunt. To the ever-present and consistently evolving character of James Bond and the many stars, like Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig, who have played the MI6 agent over the years. The spy genre continues to deliver, with recent offerings such as The Amateur, Black Bag, and the resurgent British spy series The Night Manager, led by Tom Hiddleston (Loki). Now, Fox is poised to get back into the game of clandestine services with a straight-to-series order for the upcoming project, The Interrogator.

The Interrogator is a co-production between Lionsgate Television and Fox Entertainment Studios. The upcoming spy drama series is Fox‘s second new scripted series order for the 2026-27 season. A new report reveals that the series is written, executive-produced by, and stars British actor and comedian Stephen Fry. The Interrogator joins the long-gestating Baywatch reboot on Fox‘s series order list for the 2026-27 season.

The drama centers on former MI6 agent Conrad Henry (Fry) and his elite team. When conventional methods have failed, Henry’s quirky charm, superior intellect, and mind-bending behavioral maneuvers make him the only man able to lockpick the minds of the world’s most dangerous criminals. Fry‘s Conrad sounds somewhat like Hiddleston‘s Jonathan Pine, and if The Interrogator is anything like The Night Manager, we are in for a special ride.

Stephen Fry Is Serving as Inspiration for a Legendary Character

Any nation with a storied history in the arts has revered individuals who have distinguished themselves in that sphere. For the Brits, Fry fits that bill as a renowned actor, comedian, writer, and presenter with a brilliant career that has spanned over four decades. Fry’s film credits include Wilde and V for Vendetta; fans of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s work will remember him from The Hobbit trilogy. However, the actor is best known for his work on A Bit of Fry & Laurie and Jeeves and Wooster, and his audio recordings of the Harry Potter book series have endeared him to that passionate fan base.

The Harry Potter franchise is poised for a new era, with a controversial new series featuring new actors taking onbeloved characters. Voicing Dumbledore in the new series is House alum Hugh Laurie, who, in November 2025, revealed his unusual inspiration for the character. He explained:

“Stephen because his voice was still ringing in my ears years later. There were moments when I caught myself doing inflections. I caught myself almost doing an impression of Stephen, because I thought some of his inflections were so perfect that I had to guard against that. That would become weird to have me doing an impression of him. I suppose he was probably the biggest influence, but they were all influences. I was not going to go punk on Dumbledore. I don’t think that would satisfy anybody.”
