‘Masterplan’: Stanley Tucci to Steal the Mona Lisa in Prime Video Heist Thriller!!

Stanley Tucci is officially entering his chaotic mastermind era — and honestly? It suits him.

At Prime Video’s international virtual showcase live from London on February 12, the streamer unveiled Masterplan, an upcoming France-Italy co-production starring the Oscar-nominated actor. The twist? He’s playing a legendary thief trying to steal the Mona Lisa. Yes. That Mona Lisa.

Directed by Thomas Vincent, best known for his work on Reacher, the series looks like a stylish, slightly unhinged European heist story with serious family drama baked in. Tucci couldn’t have sounded more hyped about the scripts. Per Variety, he described them as “incredibly funny and weird,” adding:

“I thought it was one of the best characters I’ve ever read and I was thrilled to be asked to play it. It’s an actor’s dream. The international cast are great, Victor is a wonderful actor, Simona is wonderful and Thomas is an accomplished director, and the locations are stunning and has everything you could want.”

What’s ‘Masterplan’ About?

When Tucci says something is an “actor’s dream,” you lean in. Tucci plays a legendary art thief named Victor who decides to pull off one last, absolutely unhinged job: stealing the Mona Lisa from the Louvre. But instead of assembling a standard Ocean’s Eleven-style crew, he recruits two young strangers — a sharp Italian cybercrime expert named Chiara and a swaggering French explosives specialist named Jay. There’s just one small detail he forgets to mention at first. They’re his long-lost children. According to the official synopsis:

“When a legendary thief sets his sights on the Mona Lisa, he recruits two young strangers to help him — Chiara, a sharp Italian cybercrime expert, and Jay, a swaggering French explosives specialist — before revealing they are long-lost siblings… and oh yes by the way, he is their father. Thrown into a chaotic reunion they never asked for, this new family must learn to work together — and try not to kill each other — if they want any chance at pulling off the heist of the century.”

Victor Belmondo (To Live, To Die, To Live Again) and Simona Tabasco, fresh off her breakout in The White Lotus, star opposite Tucci.
