Walton Goggins has been everywhere as of late, from the tropical paradise of The White Lotus to the mutant-infested wastelands of Fallout. Now, he’s headed to the big screen in a leading role as he stars in a new action thriller from one of the biggest rising stars in action. He’ll star as the hero of Mister, a new action comedy that also features Chloë Grace Moretz.
According to reports, the film will star Goggins as a man who wakes up covered in blood and has to piece his identity together. Whoever he is, he’s a dangerous assassin — that’s why so many people, including his exes and his best friend, are trying to kill him. The only person who can save him is another hired killer: his own estranged daughter (Moretz, Oh. What. Fun.). Can they evade his foes without killing each other? The film was originally to star Josh Brolin in the lead role, but he had to leave the project over scheduling issues. Mister is the feature directorial debut of stunt coordinator and second-unit director Wade Eastwood, who’s worked on films like Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and Spectre. The film is set to begin production in Madrid, Spain next month.
What Has Walton Goggins Worked on Recently?
Goggins reprised his role as the wasteland-wandering mutant cowboy the Ghoul, alias Cooper Howard, on the second season of Prime Video‘s Fallout; the show has already been renewed for a third season. He’ll also star with Amber Midthunder in the action thriller Painter, from John Wick screenwriter Derek Kolstad; production wrapped on that film late last year. He is also set to play climbing legend Warren “Batso” Harding in the feature Batso, alongside Jessica Biel and Lewis Pullman. Goggins will also lend his voice to the oddball animated feature Harry and the Mutant Mid-Century Furniture.
Mister is written by Nicki Cortese (Ozi: Voice of the Forest) and Nick Inglis. Goggins will produce the film alongside Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee for Thunder Road, and writer Cortese and Wayne Marc Godfrey for Bright White Light. It is executive produced by Chase Vergari, Ibrahim Mohammed, Eric Handler, Will Flynn, and Sophie Meyer.
Mister will begin filming next month in Madrid; no release date has yet been announced.
