‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 Teaser Teases an All-Out Targaryen War!! Check It Out!!

Long before there was the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, there was George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, the series of novels that inspired the blockbuster HBO series. Game of Thrones debuted in 2011 to widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike, but by the time the show went off the air in 2019, it’s only remembered for its disastrous ending. Still, despite an ending that soured many fans on the franchise, the Game of Thrones franchise is still ongoing to this day. Even right now, new episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are debuting on HBO Max every Sunday. The show is much smaller in scale when compared to Game of Thrones, but this has worked out in its favor, especially opting for shorter episodes and a shorter first season.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms isn’t the first Game of Thrones spin-off to make it to the small screen, though. This title belongs to House of the Dragon, the prequel series that turned back the clock several hundred years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). The show premiered its first season back in 2022, and it was met with mostly positive reception. The same can’t be said for the second season, which is viewed as one of the weaker seasons of Game of Thrones. The show is officially coming back for Season 3 this June, and HBO has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming season. It’s also been renewed for Season 4, which is expected to be released in 2028.

Will ‘House of the Dragon’ End With Season 4?

House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal has confirmed that the series will end with Season 4. This was called into question last year when reports surfaced online that the show could continue beyond Season 4, but Condal put this to bed earlier this year when he sealed the fate of the show in Season 4. This came around the same time that George R.R. Martin went public with his poor relationship with Condal, saying that he no longer exchanges notes with him, and instead must go through HBO. Martin is much more involved in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Check out the first trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3 above and catch up on the first two seasons of the show on HBO Max.
