‘The Wheel of Time’: ‘Arcane’ Producer Confirms More Projects are in the Works!!

It’s been about 1 year since Prime Video pulled the plug on its cult classic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, with the Rosamund Pike series having been cut short after just 3 seasons. Since then, fans have been campaigning for the show’s return, and yet, those calls have gone unanswered… until now. A new report confirms that The Wheel of Time franchise is returning in a big way, and it’s all thanks to the producer of one of the best fantasy shows ever made, Arcane. The report reveals that Arcane producer Thomas Vu is spearheading development on not just one project based on the novels by Robert Jordan, but quite a few, including an animated series, a video game, and multiple feature films.

Vu is already working together with iwot Studios (the current owners of The Wheel of Time IP) as well as company CEO Rick Selvage and COO Larry Mondragon, both of whom were producers on Prime Video‘s now-ended series. The report does not mention if Amazon or Prime Video is currently involved at this time or if iwot is planning on partnering with a different distributor in the future to bring these new projects to life. In addition to sharing a proof-of-concept image of the character Rand al’Thor, which can be seen below, Vu also released a statement expressing the incredible opportunity to expand the world of Wheel of Time in several different ways:

“I see tremendous opportunity in expanding ‘The Wheel of Time’ into fully authentic, integrated, interactive, and animated storytelling experiences. The depth of the mythology provides a foundation for sustained, multi-platform franchise growth.”

The World of ‘Arcane’ Is Also Set for a Major Expansion

Returning to the world of Wheel of Time should come as a great surprise for fans spurned by Amazon‘s sudden cancellation, and it’s not the only series that fantasy fans are eager to see more of. Taking place in the video game world of League of Legends, Netflix‘s Arcane ended sooner than expected after two critically adored seasons, but it’s evident that both fans and the creators of the series want more. Speaking with Collider‘s Laura Adams in a 2025 interview, Arcane co-creator Christian Linke confirmed that there are plans in place for more stories in the League of Legends universe, with a particular emphasis on finding new and exciting perspectives of this massive and unique world:

“Right now, we’re really just investing in people that we’re inspired to see realize their visions and explore their ideas. And look, the League IP has a lot to offer. There’s a lot of cool characters and we all have favorites. There are many where I’m like, ‘I wanna see a story or TV show or movie with this character.’ But who’s gonna make it, you know? And so then the question is like, can we find the right person? You just need to try stuff and talk to people, meet new writers. You meet new artists. And so yeah, we’re still kind of in that phase. I’m really, really excited about the things we’re exploring. But yeah, too early to commit to anything because our audience cares, and they would never let us forget about any promises.’

The new Wheel of Time projects are in early development, but all three seasons of the Prime Video series are streaming now.
