One of Paramount’s most successful shows in the last few years to emerge has been School Spirits, which has already aired three seasons after first premiering in 2023. Paramount has had no choice but to provide fans with a quick turnaround between seasons, considering the show has earned such strong reviews thus far. The most recent season, which just went off the air on March 4, even earned a perfect 100% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Collider‘s Jasneet Singh reviewed the third season of the series this January, giving it a solid 8/10 and praising it for its “tonal shift into horror,” which she described as “cohesive, balanced, and promising.” Her primary criticism about School Spirits Season 3 was that “some decisions play it safe and undercut the higher stakes the show is trying to set.”
School Spirits features an ensemble cast consisting of Peyton List as Maddie Nears, Kristian Ventura as Simon Elroy, Spencer MacPherson as Xavier Baxter, Kiara Pichardo as Nicole Herrera, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Nick Pugliese as Charley, Rainbow Wedell as Claire Zomer, Josh Zuckerman as Mr. Martin, Maria Dizzia as Sandra Nears, Ci Hang Ma as Quinn, Miles Elliot as Yuri, and Milo Manheim as Wally Clark. Less than one month removed from the Season 3 finale, Paramount has finally decided the fate of School Spirits, confirming that the show has been renewed for Season 4. While information about a potential release date is being kept under wraps at this time, it would be surprising if the show didn’t return with a new batch of episodes next year. School Spirits was written and created for TV by Nate and Megan Trinrud, who also serve as the co-showrunners.
What Does This Mean for the Future of ‘School Spirits’?
Paramount renewing School Spirits for a fourth season, less than one month removed from the Season 3 finale, shows that the studio has a tremendous amount of faith in the series to continue performing. Not only is the show routinely met with critical acclaim — a testament to the Trinrud’s writing and showrunning ability — but it is also consistently at the top of streaming charts, picking up more viewers as new seasons are released. School Spirits is well on its way to becoming one of Paramount’s flagship shows.
