For most TV fans, the first show that comes to mind when they hear the name Taylor Sheridan is Yellowstone. It’s the first TV show of Sheridan’s to break into the spotlight and become one of the most popular series in the world, and it’s developed such a large audience that even the several spin-offs that have already been released aren’t enough to satiate the fans. Sheridan is also the writer behind other shows that may not be directly connected to Yellowstone, but that still share the same DNA, like Landman. The Texas-set neo-Western stars Billy Bob Thornton as the head of an oil company, and after two successful seasons under its belt, it doesn’t seem like Landman is going anywhere anytime soon.
In addition to Lioness, a Sheridan-penned spy thriller starring Academy Award-winners Zoe Saldaña, Morgan Freeman, and Nicole Kidman, Sheridan is also responsible for one of the most underrated crime sagas to emerge in the last few years, Mayor of Kingstown. The show stars long-time Marvel veteran Jeremy Renner, who previously worked with Sheridan on the 2017 neo-Western thriller, Wind River. Mayor of Kingstown has aired four seasons to date on Paramount+, and earlier this year, the show was renewed for Season 5, which was officially confirmed to be the final season. This afternoon, news broke that Nestor Carbonell is the latest to join the cast of Mayor of Kingstown Season 5, which is now in production. Carbonell will star as Enrique Molina, who is reportedly described as “a boss who comes to Kingstown to avenge a relative who has gone missing.” Carbonell is best known for starring as the Mayor in The Dark Knight and for playing Richard in Lost.
What Is ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ About?
The official synopsis for Mayor of Kingstown reads as follows:
“The McClusky family is power brokers tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry.”
In addition to Jeremy Renner, who stars in the lead role of Mayor Mike McClusky, Mayor of Kingstown also stars Edie Falco as Nina Hobbs, Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson, Taylor Handley as Kyle McClusky, Derek Webster as Stevie, and Nishi Munshi as Tracy. Mayor of Kingstown star, Hugh Dillon, also works with Sheridan to write and produce the show.
