‘Bishop’: Ulrich Thomsen, Rob Yang & More Join Joel Kinnaman in New Prime Video Thriller Series!!

Over the last several years, Prime Video has steadily grown into one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world. While its subscriber totals still trail behind Netflix, the service has produced some of the most successful original TV series of the streaming era, including Reacher (starring Alan Ritchson) and Bosch (starring Titus Welliver). The latter debuted on the platform in 2014 and ran for seven seasons before concluding in 2021. However, Prime Video revived the franchise just a year later with the sequel series Bosch: Legacy, bringing Welliver back, and the appetite for more Bosch stories remains stronger than ever. The first season of another spin-off, Ballard, has already finished production ahead of its upcoming second season, and Prime Video is also working on a new Bosch prequel starring Cameron Monaghan as the iconic detective.

Prime Video is always on the lookout for a great new cop drama to hook fans around the world, and it’s found exactly that in one of its most exciting shows in development, Bishop. Joel Kinnaman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, John Malkovich, Jordana Brewster, and Xavier Samuel were already attached to star in Bishop, but this afternoon, news broke that the show is further rounding out its ensemble. It’s being reported that the latest names to join Prime Video’s Bishop series are Ulrich Thomsen (Banshee), Erik Svedberg-Zelman (Paradise), John Larroquette (Night Court), and Rob Yang (Succession). Thomsen will play the uncle of a new character named Oliver, and Svedberg-Zelman will play Asker’s nephew. It’s unclear at this time who will star as Oliver or Asker. Meanwhile, Larroquette will play a billionaire and personal friend of Lincoln Graves (John Malkovich), and Yang will portray a successful investor.

What Is ‘Bishop’ About?

Bishop centers on a tough yet calculated homicide detective with the San Francisco Police Department, Bishop Graves (played by Joel Kinnaman), who becomes the primary investigator in a case involving a serial killer preying on the city’s elite. As Bishop digs deeper into the crimes, he begins uncovering connections that lead back to his own father, adding a personal layer to the investigation and their already-strained relationship. The series is positioned to be an ideal successor to Bosch while also appealing to fans of Dexter who are craving another gripping serial killer drama. Bishop even aims to scratch the Reacher itch for fans of gritty conspiracy thrillers. Bishop is being developed for television by Little Marvin and Tony Saltzman.
