‘YAGA’: AMC Picks Up New Mystery Thriller Series Starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Hudson Williams & Clark Backo!!

HBO had plenty of big shows in 2025, but none broke out with as much force as the Canadian import Heated Rivalry. Starring Hudson Williams opposite Connor Storrie, the electrically erotic hockey drama smashed to the top of HBO Max streaming charts upon its debut last year, and even all these months later, it’s still hanging around the top 10 in a few countries. The global sensation was renewed for Season 2 at Crave and HBO and is confirmed to begin production this summer and air next year. Heated Rivalry has helped both Williams and Storrie land other roles, too. Just yesterday, Williams was one of the latest cast members announced for Prime Video’s new thriller movie, Tyrants, which co-stars Paapa Essiedu (Harry Potter), Charlize Theron (Apex), Julia Garner (Ozark), and even Demi Moore (Landman).

Williams is always on the lookout for his next project, though, and he’s found it in a new series coming to streaming later this year. The Heated Rivalry heartthrob is one of the names attached to star in YAGA, the new Crave mystery thriller that has been officially acquired by AMC to stream on its platform, AMC+ in the US, before the end of 2026. YAGA is based on the hit play by Kat Sandler, who also wrote the teleplay for the series and serves as the showrunner. Williams is among several big names in the YAGA ensemble, which also includes The Matrix and The Acolyte veteran Carrie-Anne Moss, as well as Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek) and Clark Backo (Letterkenny).

When speaking about YAGA, EVP of Linear and Streaming Products of AMC, Courtney Thomasma, called the show “the kind of bold, genre-bending storytelling that we look for on AMC+ to complement our core franchises and super-serve our passionate and discerning fan base.”

What Is ‘YAGA’ About?

AMC has released an official synopsis for YAGA to celebrate its acquisition, which reads as follows: “YAGA follows Rapp (Reid), a private investigator who arrives in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of a young heir to a powerful fishery, Henry Park (Williams). He finds himself at odds with an apprehensive local detective, Carson (Backo), a charismatic university professor with a taste for younger men, Katherine (Moss), and a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, secret lives, and ancient magic.”

In addition to starring in the series, Carrie-Anne Moss also serves as an executive producer on YAGA. It’s unclear at this time exactly when the show will begin streaming, but fans can rest easy knowing the wait for it won’t extend into 2027. The rest of the YAGA cast includes The series also stars Sheila McCarthy (Miniature Wife), Megan Follows (Reign), Ezra Franky (Untamed), Patrick Gilmore (School Spirits), Katharine Isabelle (Hannibal), Hiro Kanagawa (In Time), Emilija Baranac (To All The Boys I’ve Loved), Georgia Acken (Under the Bridge), Anisa Harris (Yellowjackets), and Sam Krochmal (The Vince Staples Show).
