‘Gen V’ Gets Positive Update Following Surprising Cancellation!!

Amid the fifth and final season of Prime Video‘s extremely bonkers superhero show, its near-perfect spin-off was cancelled. The Boys returned for its last run on April 8, 2026, and only a few weeks later, it was announced that Gen V wouldn’t return for a third season. The news came about six months after Season 2 of the YA sci-fi drama set at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting ended, leaving fans devastated. However, it appears that Gen V isn’t fully dead yet, as a promising update just made the rounds, courtesy of The Boys showrunner.

Eric Kripke, who also co-developed Gen V, is apparently trying to find a way to keep the show’s characters going somewhere in the Vought Cinematic Universe (VCU). He assured fans via a recent interview, without giving too much away, that the superhero spin-off could return despite the cancellation, but not in the way you’d imagine. The TV producer noted that while his team focuses on the release of another The Boys follow-up titled Vought Rising, Amazon has shown interest in more franchise stories, not excluding Gen V. He added:

“We’re internally brainstorming a couple different ideas. We’ll see which ones get traction, but they all have the opportunity to absorb at least some of the Gen V gang, and that’s very much by design.”

‘The Boys’ Unhinged Spin-Off Gets Cancelled

While maintaining that he played no part in Gen V’s unfortunate cancellation, Kripke explained that such decisions “are above my pay grade, among Amazon.” According to the Hollywood writer, it ultimately comes down to whether the show’s viewership justifies its production costs and aligns with the company’s broader business strategy, which they decided Gen V doesn’t. Nevertheless, fans can still hope, especially considering that Kripke previously teased a Gen V Season 3 concept that excited him, but which he couldn’t divulge much about. He did, however, mention “this idea that Marie is powerful, but that’s not the end of her story. She has to learn how to control it.”

As for the Gen V cancellation, Jaz Sinclair, who portrays Marie Moreau — a supe enrolled at Godolkin University with the power to manipulate and weaponize blood — is one of the few stars to respond to the news. She broke her silence with an appreciation post on Instagram for her fans as well as the “incredible [Gen V] experience.”
