Starz is relatively new to the streaming game, but the platform continues to bolster its library with some of the most popular originals and established hits. Starz has not one, but two of the best fantasy TV shows on the market right now with Outlander and its first spin-off, Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Only two episodes remain in the eighth and final season of Outlander, and Season 2 of its Blood of My Blood spin-off is confirmed to premiere before the end of the year. Starz also nabbed one of the biggest movies of 2025 with Ballerina, the John Wick spin-off starring Ana de Armas that’s been streaming exclusively on the platform for months now. The film underwhelmed at the box office due to its $90 million budget, but it has since found streaming redemption thanks to Starz.
Starz is always on the lookout for its next big project, though, and it may have found exactly that with Fightland, which marks the first wholly owned series on the network. The show is produced by music icon Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson, and Starz has officially debuted the first images from the series ahead of its global premiere on July 31. Fightland is set deep in the heart of the criminal underworld of British boxing, and it’s set to be the perfect watch for fans of Stephen Graham’s latest boxing drama, A Thousand Blows, and Creed. The highly anticipated series featured a loaded ensemble from top to bottom, consisting of Howard Charles as Duke Kilroy, Nicholas Pinnock as Kingsley Marshall, Deborah Ayorinde as Joy, Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Cebella “Cece” Marshall, Charles Babalola as Ezekiel “Zeek” Marshall, Tahirah Sharif as Kim Harper, Tyler Conti as Justin “Jay” Hall, and Richard Pepple as Gary “Gazzer” Kilroy.
What Is ‘Fightland’ About?
Starz has finally released an official synopsis for Fightland, which reads as follows: “On the night Duke Kilroy (Charles) becomes world heavyweight champion, a vicious assault leaves his brother, Calvin, dead, causing Duke to snap and results in him spending eight years in a U.S. prison. Upon his release, and after having made a sinister discovery, Duke returns home seeking vengeance against the man he believes set him up — the criminal kingpin and former promoter, Kingsley Marshall (Pinnock). But Kingsley has vanished, leaving his children and wife, Joy (Ayorinde), who happens to be the love of Duke’s life, to pick up the pieces.” The synopsis continues:
“Working with a cartel desperate to control London’s drug market, Duke begins a high-risk game of infiltrating Kingsley’s empire to destroy it from within and smoke out his enemy. But amidst a volatile criminal landscape, and competing influences threatening to pull him off course, Duke will need to channel everything that made him a champion fighter into his bloody pursuit to win the ultimate victory — revenge for his brother.”
Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith are the creators of the show, with Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr. serving as showrunners. Check out the new images from Fightland above.
