Hulu has released a surprise episode of The Bear that is now available to watch.
The Bear is Hulu’s comedy-drama show created by Christopher Storer. It stars Jeremy Allen White as Carey Berzatto, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richie Jerimovich, Ayo Edebiri as Sid Adamu, Jon Bernthal as Mikey Berzatto, and more.
The fourth season of The Bear was released in June 2025. A fifth and final season is currently in the works; however, Hulu has now surprised fans with a brand-new episode.
What do we know about the surprise episode of Hulu’s The Bear?
Per Variety, the new episode of The Bear is titled “Gary.” It serves as a flashback and focuses on Richie and Mikey as they take a work trip to Gary, Indiana.
The episode examines “the two friends’ complicated relationship, uncovering new layers of Mikey’s mental state while offering crucial insight into the man Richie is when audiences first meet him in Season 1 — adding emotional context that reframes their story from the very beginning.”
Moss-Bachrach and Bernthal co-wrote the episode, while Storer is the director.
The surprise episode was announced by Moss-Bachrach on Instagram. The post reads, “COUSINS! PRIMOS! CUGINI!!! Get ready for GARY!!!! We are so excited to finally share this little adventure with Richie and Mikey. Written by me and @jonnybernthal . Directed by the one Christopher Storer. Making this was a dream come true. Thanks to the beautiful people of Gary, Indiana and as always Chicago, Illinois. Search Gary in HULU to watch.”
All four seasons of The Bear are also currently available to watch on Hulu. A release date for Season 5 has not yet been announced.
In addition to the aforementioned cast, the show stars Lionel Boyce as Marcus Brooks, Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina Marrero, Abby Elliot as Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto, Matty Matheson as Neil Fan, and Edwin Lee Gibson as Ebraheim.
