Netflix has released a new teaser for Little House on the Prairie, the upcoming series based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved books.
The show will follow the eponymous third book in the series, which follows the Ingalls family living in Kansas. Based on author Ingalls Wilder’s childhood experiences, the upcoming Netflix series is the second TV series based on the books.
“Part hopeful family drama part. epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West, this fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographical Little House books offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier,” reads the show’s logline.

Sonnenshine is known for her work writing The Boys, The Vampire Diaries, and Archive 81. Netflix has reportedly already renewed the series for a second season ahead of season 1’s premiere.
Wilder’s Little House books have sold more than 73 million copies worldwide since the first book’s publication in 1932. The series consists of nine books, with the stories based on Wilder’s childhood.
Executive producers for Little House on the Prairie include Joy Gorman Wettels for Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly for Friendly Family Productions, and Dana Fox. Friendly’s father, Ed Friendly, produced the Little House television films and series on NBC from 1974 to 1984. CBS Studios and Anonymous Content produce Little House on the Prairie.
“It has been a long-held dream of mine to carry on my father’s legacy and adapt Wilder’s classic American stories for a 21st-century audience in a way that brings together fans of both the books and the original television series,” said Friendly, CEO of Friendly Family Productions.
Little House on the Prairie season 1 will be released on Netflix on July 9, 2026.
