‘The Batman: Part II’ Adds Sebastian Koch!!

This has been a great week for Batman fans, who have been treated to new information regarding the long-awaited sequel, The Batman Part II. It’s been a long road to get here after the premiere of the first film more than four years ago, but director Matt Reeves has confirmed that production on the sequel has officially kicked off this week, which would leave the film plenty of time to stick to its current October 1, 2026, premiere. The Batman Part II was originally going to be released later this year, but the film was delayed early last year when it was revealed that it would be unable to make its 2026 date. Some fans had begun to doubt if the film was ever going to happen at all, but rest assured — The Batman Part II will be coming to theaters next year, one way or another.

Director Matt Reeves took to his personal X account last night to confirm that he would reveal more details about the film today, and he’s followed through on that promise. Early this afternoon, Reeves officially confirmed three new members of The Batman Part II cast, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and Charles Dance, who have been tapped to play Gilda Dent, Harvey Dent, and Charles Dent. They join other returning stars such as Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright, who will return as Bruce Wayne, Alfred, and Commissioner Gordon, respectively. Reeves also confirmed this evening that Sebastian Koch, famous for his role as Komarov in A Good Day to Die Hard and also for starring in Homeland, has joined the cast of The Batman Part II in an undisclosed role. Fans have already begun speculating that he could be playing a major villain in the film.

Is The Penguin Coming Back in ‘The Batman Part II’?

Colin Farrell’s Penguin will return in a smaller role in The Batman Part II, as he’s confirmed several times over the last few years. Farrell recently headlined the first Batman spin-off series on HBO Max, The Penguin, which earned widespread critical acclaim and picked up a handful of wins at the Emmy’s. Zoë Kravitz is not expected to return and have a role in The Batman Part II, though this isn’t surprising to fans who caught the end of the original film, which saw her leaving town with the intention of never coming back. More details about The Batman Part II will certainly be made available in the coming days.
