‘Gen V’ Season 3: Creator Reveals Plot Details of the Canceled ‘The Boys’ Spin Off!!

A canceled Prime Video series had a clear Season 3 plan, and its plot details have been disclosed. Creator Eric Kripke revealed it after The Boys Season 5 finale aired.

Story details of Gen V’s canceled Season 3 revealed after The Boys finale

Kripke described a world thrown into chaos in the canceled Gen V Season 3. “You have Stan Edgar basically disavowing relationships with superheroes, and so these people who have been coddled and protected this whole time are now suddenly out in the wild,” Kripke told Variety. The central question driving the canceled season was stark: “Who tries to be Jessica Jones, and who tries to be a super villain?

The plot would have served as a metaphor for young adulthood. Kripke said the characters would face a reality where “there’s no infrastructure or jobs anymore.” “How do you build a future for yourself, and how do you deal with certain superheroes are just choosing to be villains?” he stated. The Gen V kids would have navigated this broken society, but the creator remains hopeful that those characters can still appear in future stories currently in early development.

The cancellation news broke earlier when Amazon confirmed Gen V would not return for Season 3. Executive producers Kripke and Evan Goldberg earlier stated, “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.

The spinoff launched strongly in 2023. Season 2 premiered in September 2025, pulling 424 million minutes viewed in its first week. However, the show only cracked the top 10 for one more week.

So with both The Boys and Gen V finished, the franchise’s future rests on the prequel Vought Rising, set in the 1950s with Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash returning as Soldier Boy and Stormfront. That series targets a 2027 premiere.
