If you were to make a list of the most iconic single seasons of TV shows of all time, it would be hard to leave out the first season of Prison Break. Prison Break Season 1 is held in high regard as one of the best seasons of TV ever made — the show was originally designed as a limited series, but it wasn’t until the success of Season 1 that the network decided to bring back the crew for another batch of episodes. Even the most passionate Prison Break fans would agree that the series went downhill after Season 1, and by the time the show returned for Season 5, things had sunk to an irredeemable level as fans disregarded the show and decided that it wasn’t even part of the same show.
We live in a world of reboots and remakes nowadays, and Prison Break isn’t exempt from the modern trend. Hulu is officially attempting to recreate the magic of Prison Break, particularly Season 1, but the streamer has confirmed that it will tell a new story set within the same universe, not a retreading of what happened in the popular series from the 2000s — there will be no Michael Scofield or Lincoln Burrows. Most of Prison Break has already been cast, but news broke this afternoon that Kelli Berglund has taken over the role of Cheyenne from Priscilla Delgado, who previously played the character in the pilot, which has already been filmed. No details were given about the role being recast, but fans can expect to see Berglund as one of the leading figures after the first episode. Berglund is known for her roles in Animal Kingdom and Heels.
Who Else Stars in Hulu’s ‘Prison Break’ Reboot?
Additional cast members for Hulu’s Prison Break reboot include Emily Browning as Cassidy, Drake Rodger as Tommy, Lukas Gage as Jackson, Clayton Cardenas as Michael “Ghost”, JR Bourne as Junior, Georgie Flores as Andrea, and Myles Bullock as Darius “Red.” Guest stars included Ray McKinnon, Margo Martindale, Donal Logue, Lili Taylor, and Sylvester Powell. Elgin James serves as the lead writer and showrunner on Hulu’s Prison Break reboot series, with Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz also executive producing. The new series will follow a soldier-turned-corrections officer who takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for the one she loves. Filming is set to commence next month.
