That nightmare appears ready to evolve again in Insidious: Out of the Further, from which Collider is thrilled to reveal an eerie exclusive image from as part of our Summer Preview Event. The sixth installment in the long-running horror franchise follows Gemma, a young mother who discovers she can not only enter The Further, but also pull what exists inside it back into the real world. According to the official synopsis, that ability quickly transforms her into a target once the demons lurking inside The Further realize what she can do.
‘Insidious: Out of the Further’ Brings Lin Shaye Back to the Franchise
Insidious: Out of the Further stars Amelia Eve as Gemma alongside Island Austin, Sam Spruell, Laura Gordon, Brandon Perea, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers. Franchise veteran Lin Shaye also returns as Elise Rainier, continuing her presence as the supernatural heart of the series after appearing in all five previous movies. By allowing its protagonist to bring entities back from The Further, Out of the Further appears ready to blur the line between worlds in a way the franchise has never explored before.
Out of the Further follows the success of 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door, which became the highest-grossing installment in the franchise. The Red Door helped prove there is still a strong appetite for the series’ blend of supernatural mythology, family trauma, and deeply stylized paranormal horror. Judging by the newly released image alone, Out of the Further seems determined to continue leaning into the franchise’s ability to make otherwise ordinary faces and spaces feel unnervingly wrong. Sony Pictures president of domestic distribution Adam Bergerman has also described the movie as one of the most terrifying entries in the franchise so far, which is saying something for a series that has spent more than a decade building some of modern horror’s most recognizable imagery and biggest scares.
Insidious: Out of the Further arrives in theaters on August 21, 2026.
