‘The Housemaid’s Secret’: Sydney Sweeney led ‘The Housemaid’ Sequel Adds Paul Anthony Kelly!!

One of the hottest new stars in the Hollywood firmament has been tapped for a juicy role opposite Sydney Sweeney in a new R-rated thriller that’s set to hit theaters next year. Canadian actor Paul Anthony Kelly, the breakout star of American Love Story, will star opposite Sweeney in the new film, which is a sequel to one of last year’s biggest surprise hits.

Kelly will star in The Housemaid’s Secret, the sequel to last year’s sleeper thriller hit The Housemaid. Kelly made his screen debut on FX‘s loosely fact-based Love Story earlier this year, starring opposite Sarah Pidgeon‘s Carolyn Bessette as John F. Kennedy Jr. The series was his first-ever acting role, and he’ll be reuniting with Love Story creator Ryan Murphy later this year for the 13th season of long-running anthology series American Horror Story. He’ll star in The Housemaid’s Secret as Douglas Garrick, the billionaire new employer of housemaid and secret vigilante Millie (Sweeney). He has a wife, Wendy (Kirsten Dunst), who Millie isn’t allowed to see, and a locked room full of terrible secrets. Michele Morrone will also return as Enzo Accardi, Millie’s friend.

What Is ‘The Housemaid’ About?

Sweeney stars as Millie, a young woman on parole for manslaughter who’s hired as a live-in maid for Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar), a wealthy couple. Housed in an attic apartment that locks from the outside, Millie soon learns that Nina has had psychological problems in the past, and even tried to drown the couple’s daughter, Cece (Indiana Elle). However, as she ingratiates herself into the family, she finds out that the Winchesters have even deeper, darker secrets. What neither of them know is that Millie has secrets of her own. The film garnered positive reviews, earning a 74% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and grossed $400 million USD as holiday counter-programming on a modest $35 million budget.

Like The Housemaid, The Housemaid’s Secret is based on a novel of the same name by Freida McFadden. Paul Feig will return to direct the film, while screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine will also return to pen the script. It will be produced by Todd Lieberman for Hidden Pictures, Laura Fischer and Feig for Pretty Dangerous Pictures, and Sweeney for Honey Trap; executive producers include Carly Elter and Alex Young for Hidden Pictures.

The Housemaid’s Secret will debut in theaters on December 17, 2027.
