‘Warrior Cats’ Animated Series Adaptation Is Officially Coming to Disney+!!

Disney has had a big year so far with a few new releases from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially the highly anticipated second season of Daredevil: Born Again. Season 2 of the Charlie Cox-led series led directly into the Punisher special, One Last Kill, starring Jon Bernthal, which has spent over a month at the top of Disney Plus streaming charts. Disney has officially begun pushing Marvel’s next big animated series, X-Men ‘97, which will now premiere on July 1 after being pushed back a few weeks — it was previously announced to premiere in June. The show has already been picked up for Season 3, also, which is coming in 2027. In addition to the third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Disney has just grabbed the rights to another popular YA adaptation expected sometime in 2028.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that an animated adaptation of the popular Warrior Cats novel series was in the works, and fans went berserk. This intense reaction from fans clearly trickled down to studios, which has led to Disney picking up the rights to the series, and also announcing that it will be released in 2028. When the show is ready to begin streaming, it will be unleashed onto Disney Plus along with some of the biggest Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar shows in the world that will be happening at the time. The show is currently in production, so it should have no trouble hitting its 2028 release date. The Warrior Cats series has sold over 90 million books to date and has been translated into 38 different languages, so it can safely be considered one of Disney’s most anticipated projects in the works.

What’s Popular To Watch on Disney Plus Right Now?

The biggest feature film on Disney Plus right now is Hoppers, which recently arrived on streaming after grossing over $370 million at the box office. All the Toy Story movies have also surged into the Disney Plus top 10 as fans anxiously await the premiere of Toy Story 5 this month. Although it’s been well over a month since the season finale, the first season of Maul Shadow Lord is also narrowly hanging onto a top 10 spot on Disney Plus. Leading star Sam Witwer has already confirmed that Disney is actively working on Season 2.
