Prime Video has had plenty of big-budget action shows emerge in the last few years, but none have been as popular as Reacher, starring Alan Ritchson. Prime Video has already confirmed that Reacher Season 4 is on the way before the end of this year, and as if that wasn’t enough for fans, the streamer has also already picked up the show for Season 5. Reacher has become so popular that it has Prime Video and all the other big streaming services in the world searching for shows to duplicate its success. Netflix has settled on The Night Agent as its Reacher replacement, while Peacock has The Day of the Jackal as its dupe. Back at Prime Video, though, there’s another action show even more methodical than Reacher that fans can’t stop watching.
Back at the end of 2024, Prime Video debuted the first season of Cross, the Aldis Hodge-led detective series that was picked up for Season 2. The show went on hiatus in 2025, but it returned for Season 2 at the start of 2026, even adding TV icon Matthew Lillard to the cast in a key role. Prime Video wasted no time renewing Cross for Season 3, and while it’s still unclear at this time when the next batch of episodes will be released, the show has resumed building out its ensemble around Hodge. Prime Video announced this afternoon that long-time Hellboy actor Ron Perlman has joined the cast of Cross Season 3 as Herschel Zamora, a police officer who is referred to Dr. Cross for therapy after a string of troubling work-related incidents. It doesn’t take Cross long to realize that Zamora may be hiding something deep beneath the surface.
What Is ‘Cross’ About?
Cross is based on the series of acclaimed crime novels by James Patterson, and it follows a Washington detective who solves mysterious murders while diving into his patients’ psyches. Before Cross, Aldis Hodge made a name for himself starring opposite Dwayne Johnson in the 2022 DC superhero movie, Black Adam, which also features Pierce Brosnan. Hodge is quietly becoming one of the biggest action stars in the world, and he’s now been tapped to star with Jake Gyllenhaal in the sequel to his Prime Video original Road House movie.
