Paramount+ is officially gearing fans up for the return of one of its darkest crime dramas, which last aired over a year ago. Much like Mobland—another top crime drama on the platform that was quietly added to Netflix this month—fans have been holding their breath for the show’s return ever since its game-changing Season 1 finale. Fortunately, an official release date has finally been set, but with a regional catch, alongside a chilling first look trailer, previewing an even darker, more twisted path ahead.

Inspired by the highly popular Nordic Noir thriller by Erik Axl Sund, the pen name of Swedish author duo Jerker Eriksson and Håkan Sundquist, The Crow Girl premiered in its entirety on January 16, 2025. About nine months later, it was renewed for a second season, given the impressive reception of Season 1, which, according to Paramount+ execs, captivated audiences with its “bold storytelling” and “standout performances.” Even critics on Rotten Tomatoes, where the psychological drama boasts an 88% Tomatometer rating, have praised it as an impressive story worth watching.

Season 2 of The Crow Girl is currently in development and is set to begin streaming from July 20, 2026, but that’s only on Paramount+ UK & Ireland for now. TV veterans Eve Myles and Katherine Kelly return to lead the dark mystery as DCI Jeanette Kilburn and the enigmatic Dr. Sophia Craven, respectively. And in the trailer, we see them thrown into a new case, which sees Kilburn’s hunt for the killers of young male asylum seekers take a shocking turn when a mummified body is found in a church wall and a body in a freezer reveals a cryptic connection.

What Happens When ‘The Crow Girl’ Returns on Paramount+?

The Crow Girl Season 2 picks up the morning after the events of Season 1, with Jeanette having ended her marriage and now in bed with Sophia. As the synopsis teases, their focus shifts to a new disturbing case, prompting Jeanette to investigate further while Sophia begins to suspect Victoria Burkeman (Clara Rugaard), her mysterious former patient, may be involved. Meanwhile, Jeanette and Sophia’s relationship grows more complex and emotionally intense, with the case also placing their trust and judgment under strain. Together, they find themselves entangled in a “disturbing web of historic abuse and buried truths”, but will they ultimately uncover the twisted perpetrator?

The Crow Girl Season 2 premieres this month.
