‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ Season 2: ‘House of the Dragon’ Star Matthew Needham Is Officially the Next Joker!!

Batman is getting a familiar foe to haunt him once again, but this time the Clown Prince of Crime is going to be somewhat different than ever before. Yes, The Joker has a new vessel from which to uload pain and suffering on the city of Gotham and now we know who will be taking on one of the most iconic roles in comic book history.

Prime Video has officially announced that Matthew Needham will voice the Joker in Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2. The House of the Dragon star was on hand at the SDCC panel to reveal his casting, becoming the latest actor to portray Batman’s arch-nemesis following performances from the likes of Mark Hamill, Troy Baker, Richard Epcar and John DiMaggio.

Needham’s version of the Joker was unveiled alongside a first-look image of the character during the panel, which also featured executive producers James Tucker and Geoffrey Thorne, as well as cast members Hamish Linklater and Jamie Chung. Fans attending the event were also treated to the world premiere screening of Season 2’s opening episode.

The series is a reimagining of Batman’s earliest years and follows, yes, Bruce Wayne as he starts his one-man war on the scum of Gotham. The noir-inspired animated series comes from executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and legendary Batman animator Bruce Timm, with Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios, Bad Robot Productions and 6th & Idaho producing.

The Joker Finally Arrives in ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’

Needham won’t only voice the Joker in the animated series. He will also reprise the role in Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles, the upcoming game from Amazon Luna launching on July 31 alongside the new season. Linklater and Michelle C. Bonilla are also returning for the game.

Alongside Needham and Linklater, the extensive voice cast includes Jamie Chung, Eric Morgan Stuart, Krystal Joy Brown, Jason Watkins, Gary Anthony Williams, Wunmi Mosaku, Grey DeLisle, John DiMaggio, Tom Kenny, Roger Craig Smith, Kevin Michael Richardson and Robin Atkin Downes.
