What a year it’s been for Alan Ritchson so far, who has starred in two feature films already this year, including one of the biggest movies of the entire year so far. Ritchson opened the year by starring in the Netflix original sci-fi thriller, War Machine, which has officially cracked the streamer’s all-time top 10 after earning over 130 million views during its first three months on the platform. Netflix has already confirmed that a sequel to the film is officially in the works, though it’s unclear at this time when it will be released. Ritchson can also be seen starring in his new virtually silent action thriller, Motor City, which opened with $1.6 million at the box office from limited theaters. Before his next movie, though, he’s finally set to return to the most famous role of his career.
Ritchson is best known for playing Jack Reacher in the hit Prime Video series, Reacher, which is finally returning for Season 4 on August 12. Prime Video is so confident that Reacher Season 4 is going to be a smash hit that the studio has doubled down on the show, renewing it for Season 5 as production is now underway. This afternoon, news broke that Jay Baruchel, Kevin Durand, Amanda Ip, and Ciara Bravo are the first to join the cast of Reacher Season 5, which will likely air on Prime Video sometime in 2027. All will star as series regulars. Long-time Reacher fans will recall that Baruchel, famed for voicing Hiccup in the How to Train Your Dragon movies, was previously set to star in Reacher Season 4 before being forced to back out due to a personal matter. Reacher Season 5 star Amanda Ip is also famous for her role in another Prime Video crime thriller show, Cross.
Is Alan Ritchson’s ‘Reacher’ in ‘Neagley’?
Alan Ritchson’s Reacher will have a key role in Neagley, the first Reacher spin-off airing around one month after Season 4. Prime Video has already confirmed that Neagley Season 1 will be released on September 16, but the fate of the show beyond Season 1 has yet to be decided. Starring Maria Sten as the titular character, the Reacher spin-off will follow Neagley as she embarks on a perilous mission to expose a sinister threat, risking her life to unravel a mystery.
