Alan Ritchson is clearly desperately looking for work. Not content with only getting one hour of sleep a day, the actor has become one of Hollywood’s most reliable names when it comes to things exploding, crashing, being punched or moving at a dangerous speed. So now, he’s decided to build a franchise of his own to fill that one hour a day.

During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Ritchson revealed that he has secured the rights to MotoGP and wants to develop a large-scale action property around the world of motorcycle racing.

“I got the rights to MotoGP. I love motorcycles. They’re so fun. I want to tell stories about it. I want to make a cool, Fast and Furious kind of thing for motorcycles, like international. I love it.”

The actor also revealed that he has already set up a film that will require him to perform a wide range of motorcycle stunts. “I had just set up a film where I would be riding every bike in that thing and riding it in crazy scenarios. So I really got to know how to do every kind of stunt.” That preparation has apparently become a fairly major part of his life. Ritchson said he now owns a variety of different motorcycles, from stunt bikes to dirt bikes, and regularly practices on them.

“I have every kind of bike you can imagine, all levels of stunt bikes, dirt bikes, and I practice on these things all the time.” He added that one of the bikes he had recently received was custom-built for him and “exceptionally loud.” It may have been that bike that got him into a spot of trouble with a neighbor who took exception to his rides around the neighborhood. This led to an altercation between Ritchson and a neighbor, but after the Reacher star posted the bodycam footage online, he was not criminally charged with any wrongdoing.

The idea of building a Fast & Furious-style franchise around MotoGP certainly fits Ritchson’s current career trajectory. After establishing himself as Jack Reacher on Prime Video, he’s increasingly moved into larger-scale action films, including his role as Aimes in Fast X, so if the MotoGP project moves forward as he describes it, it could give him the chance to move from supporting player in an existing franchise to helping shape a new one from the ground up.

No release date or studio has yet been announced for Ritchson’s MotoGP film. Until then, Ritchson will return in Reacher Season 4 on August 12.
