Matt Damon may be set to reunite with one of his recent co-stars for his next major project. A new report indicates that John Leguizamo, who recently appeared alongside Damon in The Odyssey, is being lined up for the next feature from Academy Award-winning filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known as the Daniels. However, the casting is currently unconfirmed.

John Leguizamo is reportedly set to reunite with Matt Damon in the next feature from Academy Award-winning filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. According to Deadline, the actor is currently in negotiations to join the untitled Universal Pictures project, though the studio has not commented on the reported casting.
If the deal is completed, the film will reunite Leguizamo and Damon shortly after their appearances in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The report states that the filmmakers had been searching for one final major role while assembling the cast and Leguizamo’s performance in Nolan’s epic reportedly convinced the directors to offer him the part. Production on the film is expected to begin later this year.
Kwan and Scheinert, known professionally as the Daniels, are writing and directing the project. The film has already assembled a cast that includes Sandra Oh, Sean Kaufman, Michael Gandolfini, and Charles Melton. Although the film’s story remains under wraps, Damon recently described the project during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show as “The Breakfast Club meets Inception meets an anime film meets an episode of The John Oliver Show that didn’t get aired.”
Production is being handled by Kwan, Scheinert, and Jonathan Wang through Playgrounds as part of the company’s overall agreement with Universal Pictures. The project is being managed internally by Universal’s Sara Scott, Executive Vice President of Production Development, and Jacqueline Garell, Director of Production Development.
Outside the reported casting, Leguizamo recently finished filming Universal’s next Exorcist movie, sharing the screen with Scarlett Johansson.
