‘The Center Seat II: 60 Years of Star Trek’ Trailer Sees the Return of the Popular Series!! Check It Out!!

It’s been a difficult year for Star Trek fans, even as the venerable science fiction franchise reaches its 60th anniversary. For the first time in a decade, there are no new Trek series being produced; both Strange New Worlds and Starfleet Academy have final seasons in the pipeline, but beyond that there’s nothing new on the horizon, with Paramount caught between mega-mergers. However, those interested in exploring Star Trek‘s rich history now have something to look forward to. After five years, the Star Trek documentary series The Center Seat has returned. Collider is proud to exclusively announce The Center Seat II: 60 Years of Star Trek, along with a new trailer and key art.

Produced by Nacelle, the first season of The Center Seat premiered in 2021 for the franchise’s 55th anniversary. Over the course of eleven episodes, it examined the first decades of Star Trek, from the origins of Star Trek: The Original Series through its would-be revivals in The Animated Series and Phase II; its rebirth with the theatrical movies and The Next Generation; its syndicated heyday with Deep Space Nine; and its seeming end on ill-fated “fifth network” UPN with Voyager and Enterprise. It also included spotlight episodes on the series’ spaceships and guest stars.

The Center Seat II will leap into the future and explore new territory for the documentary series. It will take a look at the uneasy transition from the first six Trek movies, featuring the Original Series cast, to the subsequent four, which centered around the crew of The Next Generation. Especially fraught was Star Trek: Generations, the first of the four, which featured the first-ever team-up of Captains Kirk (William Shatner) and Picard (Patrick Stewart) before controversially killing the former off. It will also take a look at J.J. Abrams‘ “Kelvin UniverseStar Trek movies, which rebooted the series continuity and took them to unheard-of box office heights. It will premiere on September 8, which has been designated “Star Trek Day,” as it marks the anniversary of the first broadcast of Star Trek in 1966, and will be available on Prime Video, Tubi, and YouTube.

Who Was Interviewed for ‘The Center Seat II: 60 Years of Star Trek’?
