‘Man Of Tomorrow’: ‘Superman’ Sequel Officially Wraps Filming!!

The fate of the DC Universe is seemingly in flux. After making its big-screen debut with last year’s Superman, the new cinematic universe had a bump in the road with this summer’s Supergirl, and will now venture into unfamiliar territory with this fall’s R-rated horror film Clayface. So far, only one other film remains on the future release calendar, but it just took one flying leap towards its box office destiny.

Man of Tomorrow will follow up on Superman, which ended with the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) defeating his arch-foe, Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), and exposing his crimes, sending him to prison. However, the fiercest of enemies will need to become allies in Man of Tomorrow, which will pit them both against the alien menace of Brainiac (Lars Eidinger). James Gunn, the head honcho of the DCU and the creative force behind Superman, returns to write and direct the film.

Today, Man of Tomorrow is finished. Gunn announced on the social media site Threads that the film has completed principal photography, and will now race, like a speeding bullet, towards its July 9, 2027 release date. He also shared photos of star Hoult, still sporting a shaved Lex Luthor pate, swimming in a lake following the final “cut!”, plus a group shot of the film’s crew at the shoot’s “video village.”

Who Stars in ‘Man of Tomorrow’?

In addition to Corenswet, Hoult, and Eidinger, a veritable legion of superheroes (but not the Legion of Super Heroes, or at least as far as we know) will be joining the battle against Brainiac. Justice Gang members Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) are all back from Superman, as is Superman’s cousin, Supergirl (Milly Alcock) and Luthor’s henchwoman the Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría); joining them are John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) from Lanterns, the Blue Beetle (Xolo Maridueña) from the previous DC cinematic universe, and Adria Arjona as a new character, reportedly the alien warrior Maxima. Supporting characters Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo), Rick Flag (Frank Grillo), and Eve Teschmacher (Sara Sampaio) are also slated to return. Matthew Lillard, Andre Royo, and Sinqua Walls have been cast in unspecified roles.

Man of Tomorrow will be released on July 9, 2027.
