Prime Video has had a wildly successful year so far with new releases on both the movie and TV side of production. Right now, the streamer is enjoying the success from the latest season of Reacher, the hit action show starring Alan Ritchson that’s based on the series of novels written by Lee Child. Prime Video has already picked up the show for Season 5, and with production now underway, it’s expected to premiere before the end of next year. Prime Video is even releasing its first Reacher spin-off soon, Neagley, and the run-off viewers from Reacher Season 4 are expected to help make Neagley (starring Maria Sten) a massive streaming hit as well. Once the year turns to 2027, Prime Video is also unleashing one of its biggest action shows ever, Bloodaxe.
Hailed as a replacement series to other historical epics like Vikings and Vikings: Valhalla, Bloodaxe is a new series written, created, and executive produced by Michael and Horatio Hirst that’s confirmed to premiere in 2027. Prime Video has already renewed the show for Season 2 before the first batch of episodes premiere next year, and the streamer confirmed some juicy details about the second season of Bloodaxe this afternoon. Per an official press release, Gard Løkke has joined the cast of Bloodaxe Season 2 as a series regular, with Melina Åkerman, Kieran Bew, Sebastian Bull, and George Burgess all starring in recurring roles. Season 2 is now filming in Ireland, and could possibly be released as soon as late 2027. If Season 2 doesn’t make a 2027 release window, the show will certainly return for Season 2 in Q1 of 2028.
