The last few years have been a continued breakout for Norman Reedus, who is set to return as Daryl Dixon for the final time next year. Reedus recently joined the John Wick universe in the Ana de Armas-led spin-off film, Ballerina, which struggled at the box office under the weight of a bloated budget before going on to become a hit on streaming. It was just announced last week as well that Reedus had joined the cast of Apple TV’s new spy thriller, Disavowed, which is headlined by James Mardsen. Details about the show are being kept under wraps, but it’s expected to begin streaming sometime in the next few years. Reedus also recently teamed up with Tom Hardy and Austin Butler for The Bikeriders, the 2024 drama from director Jeff Nichols.

Norman Reedus has been playing Daryl Dixon for more than 15 years now, and after starring in the original Walking Dead series for 12 years, he returned a few years ago to lead the new spin-off, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. While it was thought that the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon would premiere later this year, AMC announced this afternoon that it has been pushed back to 2027. The studio did release the first official teaser for Season 4, though, which helps ease the sting of knowing that it won’t be released until next year. Additional cast members for the final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon include Romain Levi, Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, Candela Saitta and Hugo Arbués. The series is executive produced by showrunner David Zabel, Scott M. Gimple, Reedus, McBride, Greg Nicotero, Brian Bockrath, Angela Kang, Jason Richman, Dan Percival and Steve Squillante.

AMC has released an official synopsis to go along with the teaser for the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and it reads as follows: “In the final season, while crossing the ravaged badlands of Spain, “Daryl” (Reedus) and “Carol” (McBride) grasp onto hope – and each other – as uncertainty about their future grows. Smits plays “Captain Alejandro Perkins,” a former U.S. Navy officer and medical doctor who found a unique way to thrive during the apocalypse.” Jimmy Smits, best known for his role as Bail Organa in the Star Wars universe, has also joined the cast of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon in Season 4.
