Netflix has released hundreds, if not thousands of popular shows in the last five or six years, but few have developed the same level of audience as The Lincoln Lawyer. The show aired its first season on Netflix back in 2022, but the story of The Lincoln Lawyer began long before that. All the way back in 2005, legendary crime author Michael Connelly released the first Lincoln Lawyer book, and only six years later, the first film adaptation starring Matthew McConaughey and Marisa Tomei was born. Netflix’s series adaptation of The Lincoln Lawyer allows for creatives to use each new season to tell a story based on a different book in The Lincoln Lawyer series. The Lincoln Lawyer author Michael Connelly is also famous for his work writing the Bosch books, which were turned into a series on Prime Video starring Titus Welliver.

The Lincoln Lawyer has become such a popular show in the last four years that other networks and streaming services have settled on other shows to act as a sort of replacement for the series. USA Network has settled on The Rainmaker as its closest thing to The Lincoln Lawyer. The first episode of The Rainmaker Season 1 premiered last August, over one year ago, and after a ten-episode first season, the network decided to pick the show up for Season 2. There have been few updates about The Rainmaker Season 2, at least until this afternoon, when USA shockingly dropped the first official trailer for the new season. The new trailer also confirmed that The Rainmaker Season 2 will premiere next month on October 16.

What Is ‘The Rainmaker’ About?

The Rainmaker on USA is based on the novel of the same name by John Grisham, and it was first adapted into a feature film in 1997 starring Matt Damon. USA’s official synopsis for its adaptation of The Rainmaker, which holds scores of 54% from critics and 83% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, reads as follows: “Young attorney Rudy Baylor, alongside Bruiser Stone and Deck Shifflet, battles a powerful law firm led by Leo F. Drummond and his girlfriend, Sarah Plankmore, unearthing a dark conspiracy that shows how far his opponents are willing to go to win.” The show stars Milo Callaghan as Rudy Baylor and Lana Parrilla as Jocelyn Stone.
