Taylor Sheridan’s television empire has grown considerably beyond Yellowstone, with shows including Landman, Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, 1923, and Tulsa King turning Paramount+ into something of a permanent home for the prolific writer. Now, one of those worlds is expanding again, this time with Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) at the center of his own crime series.
Paramount+ has officially released the first images from Frisco King, the upcoming Tulsa King spin-off starring Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr. The new images provide the first proper look at Jackson’s Lee building his own criminal operation in Frisco, Texas, alongside Asa Germann (Gen V), Kai Caster (Yellowstone), Lilah Pate (Outer Banks), and Savanna Gann (English Teacher).
Jackson plays Washington, a hitman who previously crossed paths with Sylvester Stallone‘s Dwight Manfredi on Tulsa King. The character appeared in the final two episodes of the show’s third season, setting the stage for this new chapter. Sheridan is writing every episode of the eight-episode series himself, which should tell fans exactly how seriously Paramount+ is taking this one.
Germann plays Teddy, a savvy college dropout who joins Lee’s operation, while Caster plays hotel valet Keith. Pate portrays London, with Gann playing her close friend and fellow cheerleader Avery, both of whom also become members of Lee’s rapidly developing organization.
Christina Alexandra Voros and Michael Friedman will direct multiple installments, with Voros helming the premiere. Sheridan, Jackson, Stallone, Voros, Friedman, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, and Keith Cox serve as executive producers.
Will ‘Frisco King’ Crossover With ‘Tulsa King’?
Tulsa King’s stars certainly hope so. At FanX‘s Atlanta Comic Convention, Frank Grillo said that he was optimistic on the chances.
“You know, I think there could be, depending on how our season pans out, but for those two (Sylvester Stallone and Jackson) especially, I think it would be silly if there wasn’t some kind of crossover for two, three, four episodes. And Sam is in our show, it’s on Instagram, it’s not giving anything away.”
Garrett Hedlund, who also stars in the series, agreed — and made it clear that Jackson’s presence alone almost demands it:
“All I want to say is Sam is a wonderful guy. He’s amazing. He’s been in every movie in the history of movies, he’s been in 9000 movies. He’s just one of these guys that are great actors, and they’re consistent in their careers, decade after decade. And then they become these iconic artists, and Sam’s one of them. There’s an Instagram post introducing Sam to the world of Tulsa King, and it’s a photo of these two giants of acting. They’d be crazy not to do it.”
Frisco King will premiere exclusively on Paramount+. A release date has not yet been announced.
