‘Pride & Prejudice’: Netflix Reveals New Images & Officially Sets Release Date for New Remake!!

Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen‘s most beloved novel, is headed to Netflix. The romantic 1813 tale is getting a new six-episode miniseries adaptation from the mega-streamer, and now we have a new look at it. Netflix also announced that the series is arriving much quicker than anyone expected.

Pride and Prejudice tells the tale of Elizabeth Bennett; she’s looking for a single man in possession of a good fortune who’s in want of a wife. Initially, the aloof Mr. Darcy seems to be the farthest thing from that, but it doesn’t quite go that way. The novel is one of the most-adapted tales in the English literary canon. Notable adaptations, all of which retain the novel’s 1800s setting and social mores, include the Oscar-winning 1940 film starring Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson, the 1995 BBC adaptation starring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth, and a 2005 movie adaptation with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. Looser adaptations include Bridget Jones’ Diary, Austenland, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Netflix‘s Pride and Prejudice stars Emma Corrin (Nosferatu) as Elizabeth, and Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) as Mr. Darcy, with Olivia Colman (The Crown) and Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) as Elizabeth’s parents, plus Freya Mavor (Industry), Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper), Fiona Shaw (Andor), Jamie Demetriou (The Afterparty), and Louis Partridge (House of Guinness). The new images show off the cast in their regency-era finest; some are nearly unrecognizable, especially the be-wigged Sewell. It was first announced last year, and filmed on location in the UK last summer. Pride and Prejudice is set to premiere on December 3, when all six episodes of the miniseries will premiere on Netflix.

Who Are the Creatives Behind ‘Pride and Prejudice’?

Netflix‘s new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is penned by author and screenwriter Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love). All six episodes are directed by Euros Lyn, a veteran of series like Doctor Who, Heartstopper, and Wayward. Alderton and Lyn also executive produce, alongside star Corrin and Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point; it will be produced by Lisa Osborne.

All six episodes of Pride and Prejudice will premiere on Netflix on December 3.
