Netflix has revealed the logo for Greta Gerwig‘s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, with new details of IMAX previews ahead of its release. The highly anticipated movie will be one of the few Netflix projects to get a theatrical release. The announcement comes almost six months ahead of its release in early 2027.
The Narnia logo keeps Gerwig’s name front and center while dropping “The Chronicles of” from the franchise. The upcoming film will adapt the sixth book in C. S. Lewis’s series, which was first published in 1955. As revealed by Tudum, IMAX previews will begin on February 10, 2027, two days before its theatrical release.

To bring C. S. Lewis’s origin story for Narnia to life, the upcoming movie will feature a new cast. It includes newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell, as well as Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Daniel Craig, and Meryl Streep.
“I was a child when I first read The Magician’s Nephew, and I fell in love with the gorgeously improbable but completely brilliant concept of a cosmic lion singing the world of Narnia to life,” said Greta Gerwig.
“I didn’t know that I would grow up to make films, but a universe built out of music is an idea that always lived in my heart. It is the honor of a lifetime to be asked to imagine it into being. Because of C. S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, I believed in magic and hidden worlds and adventure. I believed that anywhere could be enchanted and that anyone could be swept up into an epic. That wonder and awe was available to everyone, even ordinary people like me. … It transformed me.”
The Narnia franchise has been adapted several times across TV and films. The first adaptation, released on TV in 1967, has only a few episodes archived for posterity. Following other TV adaptations, the franchise made its big-screen debut with 2005’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, directed by Andrew Adamson. It was followed by two sequels. The films have grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide.
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew will be scored by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, who have collaborated with Gerwig on Barbie. It is written, directed, and produced by Gerwig. Mark Gordon, Amy Pascal, and Vincent Sieber-Smith also serve as producers, with Christine Crais co-producing. Patricia Whitcher, Douglas Gresham, and Melvin Adams will executive produce the feature.
International fans can also rest easy knowing Sony Pictures is handling its distribution outside of the U.S. Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew will be released theatrically on February 12, 2027, followed by its debut on Netflix on April 2, 2027.
