
A new trailer and posters for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping are out. It reveals Haymitch Abernathy‘s deadly Quarter Quell. The movie serves as a prequel to the original The Hunger Games story, set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen.
According to the official synopsis, “Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping follows sixteen-year-old Haymitch Abernathy from District 12, beginning on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Annual Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell, the biggest Games yet with twice as many tributes.”

What is in the Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping trailer?
The trailer introduces a 16-year-old Haymitch entering the arena. He joins a coalition determined to challenge the Capitol’s control under President Snow. Throughout the trailer, glimpses of the 16-year-old tribute’s past are shown, along with the perils he faces during the competition. He is also shown losing allies while being part of the Quarter Quell.
As the trailer nears its end, Haymitch risks everything to take down the Games and those in control from within the arena, setting in motion the rebellion that will change Panem forever.
The upcoming Hunger Games movie is directed by Francis Lawrence, with a screenplay by Billy Ray and Michael Lesslie, based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel of the same name. Although it serves as a prequel to the original storyline, it is a sequel to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, which was released in November 2023.
Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping stars Joseph Zada as young Haymitch. The ensemble also includes Mckenna Grace, Ralph Fiennes, Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Francis Lawrence served as producers of the movie.
