After five seasons, repeated stabbings, avoiding gunshot wounds, wooing the most beautiful of women, drinking all the coffee, eating all the food, and righting all the wrongs across America, Jack Reacher has finally reached an important crossroads. Alan Ritchson has already spent four books’ worth of adventures traveling suspiciously light while finding an extraordinary number of people who need punching, but does that mean that there’s a law of diminishing returns for Prime Video‘s beloved action series?
Well, not yet. Prime Video has officially renewed Reacher for Season 6, extending one of the streamer’s biggest franchises before its fifth season has even finished filming. The announcement follows another enormous performance for the action thriller, with Season 4 reaching 66 million viewers globally during its first 28 days, surpassing the performance of Season 3. Those numbers put Season 4 among the five most-watched seasons of any original series in Prime Video history. All three returning seasons of Reacher now rank as the service’s three most-watched returning seasons ever, while the series as a whole has reached more than 200 million viewers worldwide since first premiering in 2022.
Its appeal is also increasingly international, with 58% of the audience now coming from outside the United States and particularly strong performances in the U.K., Germany and Brazil. Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, celebrated both Ritchson and the franchise while announcing the renewal, saying:
“Reacher hits hard. What Lee Child has built and Nick Santora and his creative teams have brought to life is, simply, incredible. Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher — he’s delivered a performance that has captivated audiences around the world. Together with our partners at Paramount Television Studios, we couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey. Reacher is a truly iconic series, and we’re thrilled to be on the ride with this extraordinary cast and crew for Season Six.”
What’s Next for ‘Reacher’?
There’s still plenty of Reacher to get through before Season 6 arrives. The recently released fourth season adapts Lee Child‘s Gone Tomorrow, the 13th novel in the bestselling series. It begins when Reacher encounters a distraught stranger on a subway, only for the situation to go horribly wrong and pull him into a conspiracy involving enemies occupying some of the highest levels of power. Ritchson (Blue Mountain State) leads Season 4 alongside Chris Marquette (Barry), Sydelle Noel (GLOW), AGNEZ MO (Pernikahan Dini), Anggun (Levitating), Kevin Weisman (Alias), Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Kevin Corrigan (The Penguin), and Kathleen Robertson (Murder in the First).
Production for Season 5 is already well underway. Prime Video previously renewed Reacher for its fifth outing ahead of Season 4’s premiere, with production currently taking place in Toronto. The next season will adapt Make Me, Child‘s 20th Reacher novel, one which the author himself admits is notoriously difficult to adapt.
Reacher Season 4 is streaming now exclusively on Prime Video.
