‘Crystal Lake’: Opening Scene Promises a Gory ‘Friday the 13th’ Prequel Story!! Check It Out!!

Crystal Lake opens with a gory scene that goes beyond what fans might expect. Linda Cardellini lays Pamela Voorhees in Peacock’s Friday the 13th prequel, which explores her life after Jason’s drowning. The show’s opening scene immediately establishes how it plans to handle its darker side.

The NSFW sneak peek shows Pamela trying to remove a human tooth lodged in her knuckle. The moment uses visceral practical gore to introduce the character in an unsettling way. It also establishes the brutal tone that runs through the series.

The gore is only the beginning as Crystal Lake digs deeper into Pamela Voorhees’ dark history

Crystal Lake goes beyond its gruesome opening by exploring Pamela Voorhees’ grief, troubled past, and the events that shape her story.

The series is an eight-episode prequel created by Brad Caleb Kane for Peacock and A24. It takes place after young Jason Voorhees drowns at the camp. Pamela remains consumed by grief as disturbing events begin unfolding around the town.

The story expands Pamela’s history instead of starting with Jason as the killer. Two strangers arrive and begin asking questions about her past. Their investigation sets off events that leave the townspeople questioning what is happening in Crystal Lake.

The series also brings back several characters connected to the original Friday the 13th story. These include Claudette, Barry, Officer Dorf, and Crazy Ralph, while new characters join the mystery. Callum Vinson plays young Jason, alongside William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.

Crystal Lake comes from creator and showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, who previously worked on It: Welcome to Derry. Victor Miller, who created the original Friday the 13th story, also serves as an executive producer. The series was first announced in 2022 before its creative direction later changed.

The series premieres October 15, 2026, exclusively on Peacock, with all eight episodes available the same day. The original Friday the 13th introduced Pamela as the killer behind the camp murders. Crystal Lake now looks back to examine her history and young Jason.
