Prime Video has had an exceptional year so far as the streamer continues to prove itself one of the most adept at pleasing fans of all genres. Those who love great action shows have had a lot to be excited about on Prime Video this year, especially thanks to the return of Alan Ritchson’s Reacher, which recently wrapped up its fourth season on the streamer. Not only did Prime Video renew Reacher for Season 5 months before the Season 4 premiere, Prime Video has also already picked up Reacher for Season 6, so it’s a safe bet that the show will be on the air for a while. Even Reacher’s first spin-off, Neagley, has already been renewed for Season 2. The streamer continues to invest in its most-watched shows, and there’s another coming soon that’s already receiving the same treatment.
Prime Video is getting back into the historical epic game soon with a new series, Bloodaxe, which is coming to streaming in 2027. The new series hails from creators Michael and Horatio Hirst, who are best known for their work on Vikings, and they’re set to bring that same magic to Prime Video’s Bloodaxe when the show begins streaming next year. After months of updates about the future of the show, Prime Video finally unleashed the first 10 official images from Bloodaxe Season 1 this afternoon. Prime Video has already greenlit the show for Season 2 as well, and it’s even been shooting this year, which should allow for a relatively short gap between seasons. Even if Bloodaxe Season 2 isn’t able to hit a 2027 launch date, it’s a safe bet that the show will air sometime very early in 2028.

The series’ highly anticipated first season has yet to debut, and will tell the story of their fight for the throne of Norway, as the land is torn apart by fierce rivals, shifting loyalties, and bloody betrayals. With war looming and chaos consuming the kingdom, drawing in the ruthless Kings of other Scandinavian countries, and even a powerful English ruler, the stage is set for a thundering, cataclysmic, compelling, and utterly magical new Norse saga.” Cast members for Bloodaxe Season 1 include Jessica Madsen as Gunnhild, Xavier Molyneux as Erik Bloodaxe, Sisse Marie as Thyra, Levi Miller as Haakon the Good, and Rune Temte as Gorm.
