‘Anna Pigeon’ Renewed for Season 2!!

During the heyday of the USA Network and its original programming, its slogan was “Characters Welcome.” Now, it seems that characters may indeed still be welcome on the cable outlet, as they’ve decided the fate of one of their newest series, which stars Chicago P.D. expatriate Anna Spiridakos.

Anna Pigeon stars Spiridakos as the implausibly named title character; she’s a onetime urbanite whose life is shattered when her husband is murdered. Needing a change of pace, she moves out west to Glacier National Park, where she joins the park rangers. Unfortunately, she soon finds that there’s more crime lurking in the untamed wilderness of the park than she expected, and it will take all her investigative prowess to put a stop to it. The series is based on the long-running series of mystery novels by Nevada Barr, a former park ranger herself.

The adventures of Anna Pigeon will continue; Deadline reports that USA Network has renewed the series for a second season in advance of the show’s first-season finale, which will debut on the network on Friday, October 9. The series has flown high in the ratings, with its series premiere becoming the highest-rated original debut on the cable outlet in eight years. The series, which is filmed on location in Alberta, Canada, is an American-Canadian co-production, a collaboration between the USA Network and Canadian media conglomerate Bell Media.
