Netflix‘s latest trailer for its new Instadocs movie shows what AI can do when it goes completely wild in real life. The upcoming documentary throws light on the much talked-about scary incident involving open-source platform Hugging Face. It was hit by an AI-led cyberattack earlier this year.
According to an official description, Instadocs: AI Gone Wild “reconstructs the breach as it’s never been seen before and treats the incident as what it may be: our clearest warning shot yet about AI’s unintended capabilities — sparking dire concerns about the future of the technology.”

What happens in the Instadocs: AI Gone Wild trailer?
Instadocs: AI Gone Wild trailer opens with New York Times tech columnist and the author of the recently published book The AGI Chronicles Kevin Roose reflecting on the incident of Hugging Face’s systems getting hacked, back in July. Over two days, the intruders took over 17,000 actions. Only later it was revealed that they were not humans, but AI agents.
Roose tries to tell what AI can do if left unchecked. “We don’t think about the possibility that the world is shifting under our feet. I don’t think we’re ready for AI to become smarter than us.”
Hugging Face co-founder and CEO Clément Delangue is also seen in the trailer, mentioning OpenAI‘s role in the incident. “The cyberattack came from their system. There were huge numbers of AI agents.” The movie also features interviews with other important figures, including Ryan Greenblatt, a METR researcher, AI Futures Project’s Executive Director Daniel Kokotajlo, and The Washington Post’s Tech Culture Reporter Nitasha Tiku.
Notably, the documentary also tries to reconstruct how exactly AI agents came together through internal conversations and planned on hacking Hugging Face. The film is produced by Words + Pictures. It has Steve Yaccino as the showrunner and also executive producer, alongside Josh Tyrangiel, Connor Schell, Libby Geist, Aaron Cohen, and Alexa Conway.
Instadocs: AI Gone Wild releases on Netflix on October 12, 2026.
