Olivia Wilde’s upcoming holiday comedy Naughty has expanded its star-studded ensemble with the addition of another major comedic talent.
Ike Barinholtz has joined the cast of the Universal Pictures project, according to Deadline. While his exact role remains unconfirmed, industry reports indicate the 49-year-old actor will play the ex-husband of the film’s lead character, involving him in an intense custody battle.
Barinholtz recently co-created, co-wrote, and executive-produced Netflix’s Running Point alongside Mindy Kaling and David Stassen. His extensive comedy credentials include big roles in The Afterparty, The Hunt, Moxie, The Mindy Project, Late Night, and The Oath. He is also set to portray Elon Musk in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming feature film Artificial.
Who else is starring in Olivia Wilde’s Naughty movie?
Barinholtz joins a stacked ensemble led by Jennifer Aniston, alongside Peter Dinklage, Chase Sui Wonders, and Regina Hall. The casting marks a quick screen reunion for Barinholtz and Wonders, who both feature in the upcoming series The Studio.
As for the film’s plot, it follows a mother, played by Aniston, who is desperate to win custody of her son. Her only hope is to find Santa Claus, played by Dinklage, and convince him to testify in her divorce hearing.
Wonders and Hall’s roles remain unknown. However, reports suggest that Hall will play a friend of Mallory’s who accompanies her on her trip to the North Pole.
Following the success of The Invite, Olivia Wilde directs the feature. The screenplay comes from Jimmy Warden, who originally wrote the story as a spec script before Universal acquired it three years ago. The production team includes Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara through LuckyChap.
Distributed by Universal Pictures, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on November 5, 2027.
