What to know about Remnants and Apple’s immersive horror experience

Remnants is described as Apple’s “first immersive horror film.” The 27-minute production is written and directed by Ti West. The story is set at Woldmere Castle. The immersive horror stars Lucy Boynton and Ralph Ineson. However, it is by no means the first immersive film that the production house has released. Previous entries into the medium include Submerged, followed by Bono: Stories of Surrender (Apple TV’s first feature-length offering).

The format that the movie is to be released in is officially called Apple Immersive Video. It is a unique 180-degree video format that has largely been used to film sports and documentary-style short films.

West also has an upcoming feature, Ebenezer (a horror take on Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol), hitting theaters on November 13. The movie stars Johnny Depp, Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman, and Ian McKellen.

Ebenezer is distributed by Paramount Pictures. The project is produced by Emma Watts. The screenplay for Ebenezer was penned by Nathaniel Halpern. Ahead of its release, the film will debut in Australia and Brazil on November 12.
