Almost You’s narrative centers on a robotic engineer, Phoebe, who is brilliant at her job but is grieving the death of her younger sister, Edie. To get back her sister, Phoebe accumulates text messages, personal videos, and old social media posts to build a functioning AI replica of her deceased sister. However, things soon take an unexpected turn as Phoebe faces the consequences of using technology to bring the dead back to life.

Almost You director Matt Lipsey said, per Variety, “There’s never been a movie that needed to be made more than this one. We thought we were making a film about the future. It turns out it’s about right now. Juno, Joey and James will make you laugh, then break your heart, then make you laugh about it.”

The project is currently under production in Glasgow. Bankside Films will handle the international distribution of the film. Alongside Bankside, UTA Independent Film Group will help handle sales in the UK and North America.
