Synopsis – A group of high-school kids, who are infused with unique superpowers, harness their abilities in order to save the world. My Take – I’ll be honest; I’m not a Power Rangers fan. Initially as a kid, I was intrigued, but after watching the two films the series spawned – Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) & Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997), … Continue reading Power Rangers (2017) Review!!!
With the first film out in cinemas around the world on Friday March 24th, Saban have revealed that they have another five Power Rangers movies waiting in the wings should this one prove to be a success. Speaking with Variety, Haim Saban of Saban Entertainment said: “We already have a six-movie story arc…. if this film is as successful as I hope on March 24, … Continue reading Saban are planning six Power Rangers movies!!!
Contrary to the way the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show portrayed it, teens can’t just gain access to superpowers and giant robotic battle machines and instantly know how to use both of them. That’s one thing that Dean Israelite‘s Power Rangers movie seems to keep in mind. We’ve already seen the title teens struggling to rein in their new, incredible abilities, and a new clip now shows just … Continue reading New ‘Power Rangers’ Clip Shows Zack Crashing a Many-Legged Zord!!! The Power Rangers were essentially superheroes before superheroes became a dominant force in film and television. Except Power Rangers takes it a step further by adding dinosaurs, aliens, and robots into the equation. Basically, there’s a whole lot of opportunity for awesomeness in the franchise — even without the benefit of nostalgic appeal — and fortunately the folks behind the new Power Rangers movie seem to … Continue reading ‘Power Rangers’ Gets New Super-Powered, Super Self-Aware TV Spots!! The closer we get to the first-quarter 2017 release of Dean Israelite‘s Power Rangers, the more nervous I get. I was down with the young cast, one anchored by veteran actors on both the heroic and villainous sides of the power coin. I was pleasantly surprised by the title heroes’ costume redesigns and appreciated the homage to the original live-action series. The marketing let me down a bit … Continue reading ‘Power Rangers’ Zords Emerge from the Mist in New Poster!! Check It Out!!!
A new image from the upcoming Power Rangers reboot has been unveiled, giving us a fuller look at Elizabeth Banks’ villain Rita Repulsa in the context of the film. The previous Rita images were more concept art-focused or quick shots in the trailer, so this is really our first great look at the character as she’ll appear in the frame. Earth to Echo filmmaker Dean Israelite … Continue reading New ‘Power Rangers’ Image Offers a Colorful Look at Rita Repulsa!! Check It Out!!
Up until today, Lionsgate’s feature film take on the Power Rangers franchise was doing a remarkably (and surprisingly) good job of selling me on their vision. The director and the young cast of the title heroes may be relative unknowns to the wider moviegoing audience, but recruiting Elizabeth Banks as the villainous Rita Repulsa, Bryan Cranston as the heroic leader Zordon, and Bill Hader as the voice of robotic assistant … Continue reading ‘Power Rangers’ Concept Art Reveals Alpha 5’s Bizarre New Look!! Lionsgate is keeping the Power Rangers movie publicity train going with a special Twitter motion poster reveal, giving the Internet their closest looks at the new helmets that we’ll be seeing in the film. The project was announced this morning as several outlets (including Power Rangers Now) apparently broke embargo to ran with the headline. The … Continue reading Justice League / Power Rangers Promotional Comic Book Arriving in January 2017!!
This weekend, Lionsgate and Saban unveiled the very first teaser trailer for the brand new Power Rangers movie, which reboots the franchise as a major motion picture. This redo has been in the works for years, and the studios enlisted Earth to Echo filmmaker Dean Israelite to bring the story to life. Not everyone was pleasedwith the Chronicle-esque teaser, which attempts to bridge the gap between gritty and teen-friendly, but this is a major property … Continue reading ‘Power Rangers’: New Images Tease the Gritty Reboot’s Teen Heroes!! As Lionsgate and Power Rangers prepare to bring a power-packed panel to New York Comic-Con, some epic new posters have premiered and they reveal more than just powerful poses. We also get a great new look at the costumes, which I’m frankly a fan of, though I need to see the title heroes in action before I can make any final judgments. Another feature that’s sort of hidden … Continue reading New ‘Power Rangers’ Posters Feature Power Poses and Power Coins!! Check It Out!!
Fans of the original live-action TV series Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers probably know the morphin’ sequence by heart–“It’s Morphin’ Time! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Sabre-toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!”–but Saban’s new live-action movie version might be changing up the line-up just a bit, at least as far as the design goes. It’s hard to tell just what some of the giant fighting machines known as Zords will be in these … Continue reading ‘Power Rangers’ Zords Revealed in Epic New Posters!! Check Them Out!!

Elizabeth Banks, who produced the smash-hit Pitch Perfect, made her feature directorial debut with the successful sequel Pitch Perfect 2 and was signed to return to helm the next installment of the aca-centric franchise. However, Banks exited the director’s chair this summer, with her increasingly busy schedule cited as one of the reasons for her departure. Look, 2016 has been a rough year (and not just because of the disastrous summer movie season), but if there’s been a beautiful through line, it’s the emergence of Sarah Paulson as a household name. A tremendous character actress, Paulson spent years under the radar, but started gaining major traction thanks to her recurring roles on American Horror Story, and became arguably the year’s biggest TV breakout with … Continue reading Sarah Paulson Eyeing a Spot in the ‘Ocean’s Eight’ Crew!!
The all-female cast of Warner Bros. Ocean’s Eight is starting to firm up ahead of the movie’s planned October start date in New York. Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) will direct the caper film that acts as a spin-off from the billion-dollar-plus-earning Ocean’s Eleven trilogy starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt with their ensemble cast. Ocean’s Eight – or Ocean’s 8, or possibly Ocean’s Ocho as it’s being called – looks to be just one cast member short of the … Continue reading ‘Ocean’s Eight’ Cast Adds Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, and More!!
The previous image revealed the full costumes for the new Power Rangers from Dean Israelite’s upcoming film in all their many-colored glory earlier this year, but another new image zooms in on the super suits to reveal a few interesting changes. For starters, they’re not exactly one solid color throughout. Even with the accents, highlights, contours, and glowing crystalline power sources (presumably?), the color-coordinate suits appear to be more marbled than … Continue reading ‘Power Rangers’: Go Face-to-Face with the Title Heroes in a New Costume Image!! Lionsgate has unveiled a series of character posters from the upcoming Power Rangers movie, giving us a closer look at the new ensemble. The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers movie was a big deal. It was a feature film starring most of the show’s cast that transitioned the Rangers into a new phase of the series with ninja powers and zords. Little did I know that the show would pretty much ignore this movie and air its own ninja origins episode, but at the time I was pumped. But, keeping … Continue reading ‘Power Rangers’ Poster: The Teenagers with Attitude Prepare for an Alien Invasion!!
Bryan Cranston better not develop a big head after this announcement, if you know what I’m saying. The Power Rangers movie reboot, which stars a new batch of teenagers with attitude and Elizabeth Banks as the villain Rita Repulsa, has just added the Breaking Bad star. As announced on the official Twitter account for the film, Cranston will play none other than the Rangers’ fearless floating head leader Zordon. The mighty #Zordon … Continue reading Bryan Cranston As Zordon In ‘Power Rangers’ Reboot!!
One of the more exciting projects in development is an Ocean’s Eleven spinoff featuring an all-female cast. We previously reported that the film, directed by The Hunger Games’ helmer Gary Ross, will be led by Sandra Bullock, who will play the sister of Danny Ocean (George Clooney). We also reported that Cate Blanchett was circling the film, and now according to Showbiz411 she’s on board … Continue reading Ocean’s Eleven Spin-Off Adds Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and Elizabeth Banks!!
When the first image of the Power Rangers reboot costumes debuted, a lot of colorful comments were made, with many comparing the suits to one of Tony Stark’s suits from Iron Man. The exoskeletons were very different from the traditional armor worn on the long-running TV series. We knew this would happen with the hardcore fan base. They will have strong opinions. Exhibit B would point to Elizabeth Banks’ Poison Ivy-lookin’ villain Rita Repulsa. Her reveal added … Continue reading Lionsgate Might Make Seven ‘Power Rangers’ Movies!!

Power Rangers purists: brace yourself because if the new outfit for Rita Repulsa is any indication, the upcoming adaptation of your beloved franchise is undergoing some serious morphin’ time. But Lionsgate has now released the first look at Elizabeth Banks as the villainous Rita Repulsa, and it’s drastically … Continue reading Elizabeth Bank’s Rita Repulsa Gets a Sleek New Look for the Upcoming Adaptation of ‘Power Rangers’!!
Director Dean Israelite’s Power Rangers is just about a year away from opening on the big screens, but the first cast image has emerged from Vancouver where the movie is currently filming.
