‘Madame Web’ Release Date Moves to February 14, 2024!!

Madame Web, the upcoming film set in the Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has moved up its release date by two days, and it will now release on February 14, 2024, instead of the previously scheduled February 16. Dakota Johnson stars as the titular character, who has psychic abilities that allow her to see events happening around the “Spider-World”, in an origin story that will establish how the mysterious woman relates to the rest of the unconventional heroes established within the franchise. The new release date comes in the middle of a major slate shuffle from Sony Pictures due to the ongoing dual strike.

The Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA are currently busy fighting for their rights, as their members weren’t paid a fair wage for the hard work they put into the movies and television series that entertain the world. The strike has already delayed multiple productions, and it will continue to do so until studios decide to approach their workers with a fair deal.

The Presidents’ Day weekend has done wonders for the Marvel brand in the past, with titles such as Deadpool and Black Panther finding a great amount of success at the box office. The mark in the calendar could turn out to be extremely beneficial for Madame Web, as the character will be portrayed in a live-action movie for the first time.

Sony Pictures’ New Release Schedule

Other titles related to Spider-Man have changed their release dates due to the ongoing strike, including Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Kraven the Hunter. While audiences might have to wait a little bit longer to enjoy the stories making their way to the big screen, it’s important to remember that without the hard work of actors and writers the projects wouldn’t exist in the first place. Sony‘s Spider-Man Universe, as well as the rest of the industry, will get back on track as soon as the studios agree to pay their workers a fair wage, reaching a deal that will be beneficial for the entire industry going forward.
