‘Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Two’ Teaser Sees Batman Beyond Join the Mix!! Check It Out!!

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released the first trailer for Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Two.

Shared on X with the caption, “When disaster looms, heroes rise,” the trailer for Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Two features the shocking return of Batman Beyond, the moniker given to the Terry McGinnis iteration of the Dark Knight from the hit animated series Batman Beyond. While it is currently unknown if McGinnis is underneath the mask, his inclusion in Part Two will no doubt come as a delight to fans of the character.

Created and developed by Paul Dini, Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett, Batman Beyond was the fourth animated series in the DC Animated Universe, airing 52 episodes across three seasons from 1999 to 2001. Set in 2039, the fan-favorite series follows teenager Terry McGinnis as he fights crime as Batman in Neo-Gotham under the tutelage of an elderly Bruce Wayne. A direct-to-video film, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, was released in 2000, featuring the return of Mark Hamill from Batman: The Animated Series as the voice of the Joker.

Terry McGinnis’ long-awaited return to the small screen comes after multiple failed attempts at a live-action Batman Beyond movie. Warner Bros. first tried to develop a Batman Beyond feature in the early 2000s with hopes of casting Clint Eastwood as the older Bruce Wayne. However, the project stalled in development before ultimately being scrapped. Another crack at bringing Batman Beyond to live-action was attempted in 2022, with Michael Keaton reportedly attached to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman from Tim Burton‘s Batman duology and The Flash. However, it was scrapped after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-heads of DC Studios.

Crisis on Infinite Earths Concludes the Tomorrowverse

Based on the 1980s 12-issue limited comic book series of the same name, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths follows the Monitor as he recruits heroes from across the DC Multiverse to stop the destruction of all Earths. The Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy will be the final installments in the Tomorrowverse, a collection of animated DC films sharing a cohesive animation style and continuity. The shared universe began in 2020 with its namesake Superman: Man of Tomorrow and has continued with Justice Society: World War II, Batman: The Long Halloween, Parts One and Two (all 2021), Green Lantern: Beware My Power (2022), Legion of Super-Heroes and Justice League: Warworld (both 2023).
