‘The Mummy’: Jack Reynor Joins Lee Cronin’s Blumhouse Remake!!

The Mummy just got one step closer to becoming a reality. Jack Reynor has been cast in the upcoming project produced by Atomic Monster, Blumhouse and New Line. It’s relevant to point out that Reynor has not been cast as the titular monster, with details surrounding his character being a mystery, for the moment. The studios have been very careful when it comes to crafting this new iteration of the classic big screen creature. Not much is known about the premise of The Mummy, other than the fact that the title will be making its way to cinemas on April 17, 2026.

Before he was cast in The Mummy, Jack Reynor stole the spotlight in The Perfect Couple. The Netflix series allowed the actor to portray Thomas Winbury, a character closely connected to the wedding that took place at the center of the project’s premise. The Perfect Couple was originally intended to be a limited series for the streaming platform. Strong viewership numbers convinced Netflix to develop a second season of the show, while Jack Reynor moves on to deal with supernatural mysteries in The Mummy.

The new version of The Mummy will be written and directed by Lee Cronin. The filmmaker behind Evil Dead Rise will carry the responsibility of bringing a Universal classic (back) to life for an entirely new generation. The legacy sequel to Evil Dead received plenty of acclaim when it was released in theaters a couple of years ago, which is why it’s easy to understand how Blumhouse felt confident when hiring Cronin for their upcoming film.

The Legacy of ‘The Mummy’ Continues

The original Mummy featured Boris Karloff as the monster. Almost a century after the classic kept audiences on the edge of their seats, Lee Cronin will continue the legacy that began with the story about Imhotep attempting to bring back his deceased lover. The most popular iteration of the movie for modern audiences remains the adventure starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz as two young heroes who have to stop Arnold Vosloo‘s version of Imhotep. Tom Cruise even attempted to launch a blockbuster franchise called the Dark Universe with his own Mummy, but the project bombed at the box office. Time will tell if Lee Cronin and Jack Reynor can bring the legacy of The Mummy out of its sarcophagus, or if the property is doomed to remain dormant for centuries to come.

The Mummy will premiere in theaters in the United States on April 17, 2026.
