It was announced earlier this year that The Boys Season 5 would feature a Supernatural reunion, with Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins joining Jensen Ackles in the cast of the final season. The team has since shared several behind-the-scenes looks at the highly anticipated reunion coming in the next season of The Boys, which has also been in production for months. Collins has shared another photo of the group on his personal Instagram, except this time, they’re not on The Boys Season 5 set; they’re back in Dean Winchester’s legendary 1967 Chevy Impala. Winchester is portrayed by Jensen Ackles in the series, and his brother, Sam Winchester, is played by Padalecki. Collins portrays Castiel Lucifer in the series, and Ruth Connell, who also features in the photos, plays Rowena MacLeod.
It’s unclear at this time what roles Collins and Padalecki will play in The Boys Season 5, but Ackles has been set to reprise his role as Soldier Boy. Ackles was a series regular in The Boys Season 3 before going on ice in Season 4, but the post-credits tease at the end of the fourth season confirmed that he will step back into a larger role in the next installment. Both Supernatural and The Boys were created for television by Eric Kripke, who is also known for his work as a scribe on horror movies such as Boogeyman and Boogeyman 2. Kripke also developed the first spin-off series in The Boys universe, Gen V, with Seth Rogen. He’s expected to also be the mind behind the upcoming prequel series, Vought Rising, but this has yet to be confirmed. Vought Rising will follow Soldier Boy (Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash) many years before the events of The Boys.
What Do We Know About ‘The Boys’ Season 5?
Plot details for The Boys Season 5 are being kept under wraps, but with it confirmed to be the final season of the series, fans are waiting to see how the cast and crew take things up a notch. Everyone expects Homelander (Anthony Starr) to finally meet his fate in the series after growing bolder through each of the first four seasons. However, it remains a mystery as to who will be the one to take him out. The most likely options are either Hughie (Jack Quaid) or Butcher (Karl Urban), but it wouldn’t be surprising for The Boys to subvert expectations and go with someone completely different.
