After a decade of solving murders, chasing leads, and living by the code that “everybody counts or nobody counts,” Bosch star Titus Welliver has officially said goodbye — and he’s taking a moment to thank the fans who made it all possible. In a heartfelt message, Welliver shared, “I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you for ten years of incredible dedication and support to our show. Thank you.” His words mark the end of an era not just for the Amazon hit series Bosch, but also its spinoff Bosch: Legacy, which wrapped its final season with an emotional farewell to Harry Bosch.
Welliver wasn’t the only one reflecting on the journey. Bestselling author and series creator Michael Connelly also spoke about the show’s unique connection with its audience, especially as Bosch helped pioneer original streaming television. “We started down this road of streaming when it was very new, so to get this kind of response online and through social media was very helpful to us, and we did hear you, and we cannot thank you enough,” Connelly said.
Will ‘Bosch’ Return?
For now, who knows? Our favorite perenially miserable LAPD detective turned private investigator, brought to life by Welliver, has been the heart and soul of ten seasons of crime drama, and he’s being forced to step away. Welliver will return in Ballard, the latest Bosch-verse spinoff from Prime Video, with Maggie Q leading as Detective Renée Ballard. First introduced in the Bosch: Legacy Season 3 finale, Ballard will be working on cases with Bosch keeping her honest, via a supporting role. But for Welliver — while acknowledging it isn’t his story any more — the real Bosch legacy still looms large, and the character will always be around should Amazon decide to change their minds in future.
“He lives on in Michael’s books, and Mike being as prolific as he is, he still continues to write Bosch books. I really feel like this show has a commitment and a depth to it that will kind of always go on. It will be rediscovered and discovered by new audiences and the devout people.”
Bosch and Bosch: Legacy are streaming now on Prime Video. Ballard will arrive sometime later in 2025.
